This month is a round up of cultural advice for both new and old hands at
growing orchids. Old members may need help with their collections and new
members who want to know how to care for plants purchased at our show.
Come one come all to our meeting for a good give and take about growing
orchids. No question too big or too small. (diseased plants in plastic bags,
please.) By now y'all have a million questions so come and ask them!
Kathy Barrett has been growing orchids for about 15 years, starting out on a windowsill,
then under lights and finaly in a greenhouse of her own design and built with her own
hands.
Dennis Olivas is a walking encyclopedia on growing orchids having started
growing orchids as a kid in the Future Farmers of America on Kauai, Hawaii. He’s been a
member of just about every Bay Area orchid society and has grown orchids in his house (6000+
indoors) in commercial greenhouse space, and in his backyard.
